Dr. Matthew E. Joelson
Dentist
Dr. Matthew E. Joelson has been practicing dentistry since 1997 and has been serving the community at Pierce Street Dental since 2012. His professional, compassionate approach and decades of experience make him a trusted provider for patients of all ages.
He earned his Bachelor of Science from Michigan State University, his Doctor of Dental Surgery from Northwestern University, and completed his Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) at the University of California, San Francisco.
Dr. Joelson was drawn to dentistry in high school after shadowing local dentists in his hometown. Since then, he has built a career focused on providing high-quality care and forming lasting relationships with his patients. He even had a cosmetic practice in downtown San Francisco and Chicago prior to returning to his hometown of Detroit in 2012 and partnering with Dr. Shushtari. He enjoys being part of a dedicated team and values the opportunity to contribute to the health and well-being of the community.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Joelson enjoys staying active through golf, hockey, and fitness. He also holds dual citizenship in the United States and Canada.
Danielle
Dental Assistant
With nearly two decades of experience in the dental field, Danielle brings skill, professionalism, and a calming energy to her role. She helps even the most nervous patients feel at ease.
Since joining Pierce Street Dental in 2017, she’s become an essential part of the team, known for her ability to build genuine connections and make patients feel heard, informed, and cared for.
Danielle sees her role as more than just chairside assistance—she’s the bridge between patients and the rest of the team, offering reassurance, answering questions, and creating a space where patients feel comfortable and confident throughout their visit.
She found her calling in dentistry back in 2006, drawn by the joy of helping people smile (literally!) and the chance to be part of a team that truly changes lives. Trained through hands-on experience and close mentorship with seasoned dental professionals, Danielle brings both heart and expertise to everything she does.
Outside of work, you’ll likely find Danielle working out, recharging with her kids, or soaking up time with loved ones.
